Article Marketing (An Introduction)

an introduction to article marketingArticle marketing is a proven and tested free to get traffic to your affiliate offer, or website. Thousands of marketers within many different niches use article marketing to great effect. Some even base their whole marketing model around this strategy alone.

The Basic Flow Of Article Marketing:

You write an article about any subject related to your interests, submit it to an article directory, and then wait for it to get listed in the search engines. There are a few stipulations that you must always remember though. Submitting articles to directories is a powerful strategy, but the last thing you want is an article on a directory outranking the same article that’s situated on your own website.

To avoid this, you would publish the article on your own website first, wait until it gets indexed by Google, and ONLY then submit it to a directory. If you reverse this order, your article will be indexed on a directory instead of your own site. Today is just an introduction to article marketing, I will go into far more detail about this process in other posts soon.

Benefits Of Submitting To Article Directories:

Free traffic is always beneficial for obvious reasons. Article directories gives you a chance to get your post picked up by other webmasters who will then place it onto their very own site for their readers. This benefits us for two important reasons. 1) You will have a link or two pointing back to your website at the end of each article you submit to a directory… giving you a one way backlink. 2) You can get direct traffic from the links you place at the end of your articles, providing your content is informative and used by webmasters with high traffic websites. There are other benefits we will delve into another time, but these are the two most popular. Let’s briefly look at both right now…

Backlinks From Article Directories:

When you submit an article to a directory, you are given the option to place a backlink ( or two) in a resource box at the very end of your article. These links are one way links and are most often Do-Follow links. If you can get enough articles onto enough directories you can build up a lot of decent backlinks pointing to whatever page/keyword you want to rank for in the search engines. These links are not as powerful as they used to be, but still hold some value.

Other Webmasters Picking Up Your Article:

This is a much better scenario than the previous one, simply because not only do you get backlinks from the article directories, you can also get a lot of backlinks from other websites where your article may get published.

This is how it works:

You submit a high quality article to an article directory. It gets accepted by the moderators. Webmasters scour through the article directory looking for quality posts to place on their own sites for their readers. They come across your article, publish it onto their own site (leaving your links in tact) their readers enjoy the article, click on your link, and end up on your website where they can get more information related to their interests. It’s a win win. The webmaster gets free content and you get lots of backlinks.

You also get traffic back to your website when readers click on your links to find out more about you, and your work. This is a very powerful strategy, but you MUST write high quality articles if you want them to be a) published on other high quality sites b) followed by readers back to your own site.

Conclusion To Article Marketing:

As you can see from the above points, article marketing can have a really positive effect on your traffic generating strategies, through search engine ranking and direct traffic. Always make sure to write high quality articles, get them indexed on your own websites first, and then submit them to the top 5 – 10 article directories. I will be covering article marketing best practices in more depth here on this site, so stay tuned.
